So what now, Mr Obama?

Dear Mister President,

When I woke up this morning and I heard your voice coming from my television, I knew you had won. Four more years. Four more years in the White House, four more years "leading the free world", four more years for a second chance to do the right thing.  Four years ago, you could have done anything.  You had the absolute majority in both chambers to do everything you wanted and you didn't.  You wasted it.  Will you have what it takes to do the right thing this time around?  May be this time you will believe that you are truly worthy of the job, that you deserve to be POTUS.

It seems to me that the first time around, sometimes you were only tiptoeing around the big issues.  Not daring to do the right thing. As if you couldn't believe that the American people had elected you, a black man, that there was some kind of mistake and that you didn't earn the right to be there. But you did, and you've done it again. So this second chance that you've just been given, please don't waste it.

Your campaign slogan said "Forward" then go, move forward. Do what you think is right, but really do it, don't just say it in your very nice lawyer speeches. You will need to be strong, you will need to be a little less nice to some, to really piss off others. Do it.

This country of yours is a great country, you're right.  Your election to the White House is there to prove it, among other things. Continuing to be great in this economy will be a challenge.  The English language is still a chance for your country.  English is easy to learn and you still have the best universities so people from all around the world continue to come study in the USA.  But for how long?  How long before millions of students start studying Mandarin?  How long before China can afford better universities, better professors?  That will be the end of you because education is everything.

So Mister President, I wish you good luck for this second term. I still have faith in you.  You have opened new ways in your country where everything still is possible if you want it bad enough, if you're ready to work hard enough.

And who knows, four years from now, may be the new President-elect will be... a woman.
